So last week was probably the first time in six months that I didn’t have a weekly links of the weeks post and I’m going to keep that trend an additional week. Part of being a good blogger is being a good reader and finding out what is going on out in the blogosphere and rest of the web world. This is the 100th post on .eduGuru and I like to think it’s reached a certain level of success and that would have never been possible without others linking to this site and the wondeful community. I know I missed publishing these on Friday like normal, but it’s been a very difficult last few days.  Long story short my father was performing a funeral Thursday morning when he collapsed and was taken to the hospital.  I just returned from the Greenwood hospital spending the morning with him.  He’s in good spirits, but it’s not good.  He has some swelling of the brain and a very large sized mass in his brain.  He’s having a biopsy of the brain performed Monday morning when we will know more.  We aren’t certain, but it’s most likely cancer and a very rapid and large case deep inside his brain.  There is no need to respond, but any and all prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Well tomorrow is the 4th of July so hopefully you won’t be waiting for my Friday links of the week because I’ll be off having a merry time down in Charleston, SC for the weekend.  Last Friday’s day trip to New York City and the Subway Series was incredible and I don’t know if I ever fully caught up this week.  We actually ended up hitting up games in both Yankee and Shea Stadiums on Friday.  Me not really being a fan of either team, ok I hate them both, enjoyed the fact that each team was blown out at home.  You probably don’t care, but if you’re interested here’s a link to the pictures from the New York City Subway Series trip.

The links are coming to you a little early this week because I’m taking tomorrow off to fly to NYC for the day.  Yeah I know it’s crazy to fly up to NYC for the day, but sometimes that’s just how I roll!  So why am I flying up to NYC for the day?  Well a buddy of mine has four tickets to the Yankees vs Mets game.  It’s a once in a life time opportunity and the last year to catch a game in the “House that Ruth built”.  As some of you know I’m a die hard Braves fan so naturally I’m not a Mets fan and I believe the Yankees represent everything that is wrong with Baseball as they just go out and buy pennants.  I guess I will be pulling against both teams!

It’s been one of those wild weeks. I’m not really sure why or how, just seems like drama has made it to new levels on so many fronts. Summer school has been plugging away nicely and to think I only have three classes and in a week and a half will be finished with another class. This weekend has way to much craziness going on, besides being Friday the 13th, tomorrow is my Mom’s birthday. Last year for her 60th birthday she wanted to go to a Cubs game which they won, but kind of ironic a year later that those same Cubbies just completed a sweep of our beloved Bravos.

Hopefully everyone is actually getting as much work done as we are now that summer has arrived. It amazes me that people don’t realize that tech people at colleges and universities get all their work done during the summer when we don’t have the daily interruptions with people’s perceived emergencies. I’m still trying to catch up from my previous five day weekend, but still lots of good links to share. Also wanted to shoot another plug out for eduWEB Conference 2008! I just found out this week that I’ve been bumped up to a session slot and will be presenting on Email Marketing, basically walking through the fundamental steps that should be part of every campaign. So tomorrow is going to be the first “Links of the Week” I’ll miss since this blog was started five months ago but I’m fully unplugging for the weekend and heading to the Indy 500 for Memorial Day Weekend. Usually I’m more of a Coca Cola 600 person as this is going to be only the second 600 I’ve missed in the past seven years. I bet you readers didn’t know that did you!? Probably don’t really care either… It’s not that I’m a huge racing fan, but I love to people watch and the atmosphere. For the record I go to ONE NASCAR race a year. Since I’ve already called myself out, I’ll let you fully laugh at my expense with some previous “race” picture. As you can see, I really enjoy getting in character!
