Well I announced it on the twitter wire this morning so it is only fitting that I explain in a little more detail. I have officially put in my resignation to Wofford and accepted a full time position at HubSpot. For those of you who don’t know about HubSpot maybe you are familiar with Website Grader, Twitter Grader, and Press Release Grader? HubSpot specializes in Inbound Marketing and helping small business get found online. So first of the year this southern boy is taking his flip flops and moving north to Boston. No links of the week, sorry. Instead here are some rather amusing Halloween Comics. Hopefully you find them more enjoyable? Also you Higher Education Web people out there don’t forget about the .eduGuru Blogger Search Contest. We’ll keep accepting applications until November 10th. I’m glad to say we already have a range of applicants so just because you aren’t into web marketing, analytics, or email doesn’t mean we don’t want you. Heck it probably means we want you more because we need a Guru in every Web Niche!

The following is a guest post by Craig Sudduth, Senior Student Web Content Editor and Student Writer. Summer is a time when college web professionals are able and have time to focus on projects while a good portion of campus is off on summer vacation. Despite this productive streak we still need a little entertainment from time to time to keep sane. Also a little fun fosters creativity. This is the first post in the “keeping sanity series” during the summer months.

.eduGuru was started as a New Year’s resolution and unlike most New Year’s resolutions it is actually still going and quite strongly. I’m almost embarrassed to point back to that inaugural post, Look ma I’m a Blogger, where I attempted to lay a framework for this blog, but it is also a testament to how far I’ve come as a writer, thinker, marketer, and the one I’m most proud of a teacher.

Well tomorrow is the 4th of July so hopefully you won’t be waiting for my Friday links of the week because I’ll be off having a merry time down in Charleston, SC for the weekend. Last Friday’s day trip to New York City and the Subway Series was incredible and I don’t know if I ever fully caught up this week. We actually ended up hitting up games in both Yankee and Shea Stadiums on Friday. Me not really being a fan of either team, ok I hate them both, enjoyed the fact that each team was blown out at home. You probably don’t care, but if you’re interested here’s a link to the pictures from the New York City Subway Series trip.

It’s been one of those wild weeks. I’m not really sure why or how, just seems like drama has made it to new levels on so many fronts. Summer school has been plugging away nicely and to think I only have three classes and in a week and a half will be finished with another class. This weekend has way to much craziness going on, besides being Friday the 13th, tomorrow is my Mom’s birthday. Last year for her 60th birthday she wanted to go to a Cubs game which they won, but kind of ironic a year later that those same Cubbies just completed a sweep of our beloved Bravos.

So any of you who are regular readers know that I went to the Indy 500 last weekend and you probably also know I broke my regular tradition of attending the Coca Cola 600 to do such. Now having perspective of both events I think it might be worthwhile to take a comparative analysis of the two events and see if I can’t tie it back to Higher Education marketing. So… please bare with me here.

So tomorrow is going to be the first “Links of the Week” I’ll miss since this blog was started five months ago but I’m fully unplugging for the weekend and heading to the Indy 500 for Memorial Day Weekend. Usually I’m more of a Coca Cola 600 person as this is going to be only the second 600 I’ve missed in the past seven years. I bet you readers didn’t know that did you!? Probably don’t really care either… It’s not that I’m a huge racing fan, but I love to people watch and the atmosphere. For the record I go to ONE NASCAR race a year. Since I’ve already called myself out, I’ll let you fully laugh at my expense with some previous “race” picture. As you can see, I really enjoy getting in character!

Hopefully everyone spent time with loved ones today and let their mom know how much they love her?
