I’m still trying to catch up from my previous five day weekend, but still lots of good links to share. Also wanted to shoot another plug out for eduWEB Conference 2008! I just found out this week that I’ve been bumped up to a session slot and will be presenting on Email Marketing, basically walking through the fundamental steps that should be part of every campaign. So any of you who are regular readers know that I went to the Indy 500 last weekend and you probably also know I broke my regular tradition of attending the Coca Cola 600 to do such. Now having perspective of both events I think it might be worthwhile to take a comparative analysis of the two events and see if I can’t tie it back to Higher Education marketing. So tomorrow is going to be the first “Links of the Week” I’ll miss since this blog was started five months ago but I’m fully unplugging for the weekend and heading to the Indy 500 for Memorial Day Weekend. Usually I’m more of a Coca Cola 600 person as this is going to be only the second 600 I’ve missed in the past seven years. I bet you readers didn’t know that did you!? Probably don’t really care either… It’s not that I’m a huge racing fan, but I love to people watch and the atmosphere. For the record I go to ONE NASCAR race a year. Since I’ve already called myself out, I’ll let you fully laugh at my expense with some previous “race” picture. As you can see, I really enjoy getting in character!

Starting in January we tried something a little different with our First Year Student blogs. As I’ve reported before I had a hunch that prospective students care more about videos, where their parents are more likely to read the student blogs. In a creative effort and some good collaboration we were able to combine the two into a student video blog! Now keep in mind you have to find the correct student to be able to carry on something like this, but I think it’s provided a very unique perspective of the campus and our Study Abroad program. Wofford’s commencement is this weekend and Phillip Stone’s From the Archive blog has posted quite a few interesting posts about commencement over the last week. One that I found really interesting was one about Commencement at Wofford in 1858. Man things have changed over the last 150 years, but what an interesting look at how things were those many years ago. So in tribute to a certain blog who’s traditionally known for their “Friday Five” series and who’s very hit or miss these days I’m going to attempt to cut down on the amount of links that I force feed my loyal readers. Some reason you keep coming back and that’s pretty cool, so thanks. The certain blog will be left nameless to protect the identity of the parties involved.
