Have You Heard About Higher Ed Live?

Have You Heard About Higher Ed Live?

I recently received a direct message from Seth Odell to tell me about his latest project.  After one email he sold me on his awesome new project, and I knew it was going to be something worth sharing with the rest of you.  Instead of going into the details on my own I asked Seth five questions about his new web show. Also, check out the video introduction from his personal blog.

What’s your background and experience?

I’ve been working in higher education for a little over three years. Originally starting out of college as an assignment editor for ABC News in Albany, NY, I’ve worked in various communication and media relations roles with UCLA  since July 2007. While at UCLA, I have helped conceptualize and launch strategic social media initiatives on a university-wide level, including UCLA’s YouTube, Facebook and Twitter channels. I also blog communications at AsMediaChanges.com.

Why the name Higher Ed Live?

This is a show FOR higher ed professionals BY higher ed professionals. Plus, it’s live!

Who is the audience you want to reach?

It’s an ambitious goal, but I want to be a resource for every higher ed professional who works - however remotely - in communications, marketing, student affairs or with the web. By pulling my guests from a diverse pool of talent, I hope to provide a resource that is valuable to just about anyone who decides to tune in.

What do you have in store for viewers?

I’ll be streaming live each and every Sunday, at 7 PM EST, with a new episode that tackles a different issue impacting the world of higher ed. Each episode will feature a new guest, either from the higher ed or tech community, and the guest will be taking live Q&A from viewers who tune in. While the show structure may evolve over time, Higher Ed Live is about being a resource to the community. If you give me 20 minutes of your Sunday night I’ll make sure you’re prepared to crush it come Monday.

Can’t tune in live? Have no fear, each and every episode will be archived at higheredlive.com.

How can people get involved?

I am working hard to make the show as interactive as possible. Each week’s guest will be taking live questions from the audience, either via the hashtag #higheredlive or directly from the show’s Ustream chatroom. Guests can even get creative and leave the show a voice mail, sharing their questions and comments, by calling 313-HIGH-EDU. The show will be evolving organically from episode to episode, so I’d welcome any folks who want to share their thoughts, questions or comments to email me directly at seth@higheredlive.com.

Not excited yet?  There are a lot of ways that you can stay updated with the show, but I’ll list a few here.

Love it. Hoping you will have a place to ‘sign up’ for reminders ASAP. Will visit your site to look for. Could be similar to Gary V’s wine library TV. Let me know if I can help in any way. I have a wide variety of higher ed connections.
